Although its lead actress Christine Reyes didn't win the Best Actress award, the ABS-CBN drama series Eva Fonda luckily won a special prize in the 2009 Seoul International Drama Awards. The first ever award won by the Philippines in the 4-year-old award giving body for drama series around the world.Eva Fonda herself, Cristine Reyes, accepted the trophy in Seoul, Korea where the awards ceremony was held. Eva Fonda bested the following in the special prize category:

Fathers and Sons – TV channel Russia, Russia
Britannia High – ITV Global Entertainment Ltd, UK
Fighting Spiders – MediaCorp TV (S) Pte Ltd, Singapore
Forbidden Love – Calinos Entertainment, Turkey
